Sanctioning a swim meet for the fall? Read this first!

Club Contacts, Thank you for forwarding this message about sanctioning swim meets to your club’s meet directors and coaches.

Clubs,

For clubs that are working on meet information for the upcoming fall short course season, please be sure to review the information in the Sanctioning Policies & Procedures document, which is posted on the Sanctions page on the website. This document provides all of the information needed to sanction swim meets in our LSC. Please note that there are some updates to the standard information that is required in all meet documents. You can copy and paste from the Sanctioning P&Ps to make it easy to incorporate those updates into your fall meet information documents.

Meet sanctions usually take less than one day, but it takes much longer to review them if I need to make required language corrections for you. It would be a great help to me if you could make any required updates prior to submitting.

All meets sanctioned for the fall will be subject to any policy or rule changes that are approved at the USA Swimming House of Delegates meeting (in late September) and at the South Texas Swimming House of Delegates meeting (October 5).

I have sent email reminders to many clubs that have not yet submitted the required Sanctioned Meet Income Statement after their hosted meets from this summer. You’ll need to submit any past due statements prior to sanctioning the next meet, so please take care of those forms now to avoid any sanctioning delays.

As a reminder, our LSC requires clubs to be Safe Sport Recognized Programs at the time of the sanction application and the meet dates. There are many clubs with expiring certifications at the end of July and August, so please be sure to be working on your renewals early. The Safe Sport status for all clubs is listed on the Clubs page on the South Texas Swimming website.

If you have any questions about sanctioning swim meets, please let me know.
